A lot of people are ashamed and embarrassed to admit they have bad breath problems. Some don’t even know they have a problem, because no one told them. Those who are aware of the delicate situation, try to handle it by chewing gums, using a whitening toothpaste or rinsing with mouthwashes a few times daily. This may be good, but it only takes care of the immediate problem, and not fixes it entirely.

Before you look for a solution for bad breath, you should know why it happens. A major factor of bad breath is our daily eating routines. Some foods produce more gas when they decompose in our stomach, and that could cause bad breath. Try to avoid foods like beans, peas, cabbage, leeks, broccoli, apples and dairy products.

Another reason for bad breath comes from the activity of bacteria in our mouth. A lot of germs thrive in the back part of the tongue, and when they break down proteins it causes the smelling gasses.

A very important thing is knowing how to brush and clean the teeth correctly. A simple brushing is not enough. You must clean all parts of the mouth, including those parts that are hard to reach. A good tip would be to use your toothbrush to clean your tongue. Just add a toothpaste or a mouthwash and go over the entire tongue with gentle strokes. You can use a tongue scraper, as those areas are hard to reach.

Also, to help with digestion and reduce bad breath, try to minimize the amount of coke, coffee and tea that you drink daily and switch to water or natural juices. If after a couple of months you don’t detect any change, go to the dentist for more professional help.
